The Moon Landing...Did it Happen?
This is a very popular conspiracy theory, but also a very interesting and plausible one. Did humans actually walk on the moon?
During the moon landings, tensions between the United States and the Soviet Union were high and they were in a cold war. Both countries were racing to make it to the moon first because it would be seen as a worldwide technological advancement. However, making it to the moon was expensive and difficult for the United States. That is one reason people think that the moon landing may have been a hoax. This claim is refuted by hoax debunkers saying that soviets were going to claim foul play if the U.S.A. made it to the moon first and that would be a huge propaganda win for them.
Another big reason people think the moon landing may have been faked is that NASA wanted to avoid embarrassment and continue to receive government funding. The $30 billion raised by NASA is thought to be used to pay people off, according to conspiracy theorists. Also, there was no video broadcast of the event from NASA due to technological limitations and to avoid the risk of filming death on live TV. Conspiracy theorists find that to be a likely story.
There is still evidence that attempts to support the idea it might be faked from the actual mission itself. There is a photo of Buzz Aldrin exiting the spacecraft on the moon where he seems to be extremely well lit for being a shadow. Mythbusters debunked this claim with an experiment where they replicated the photo with a model spacecraft and astronaut, as well as using dust with the same reflectivity as the moon. They proved that he would still be illuminated even though he is in a shadow. If we can see the moon so brightly at night and it reflects all the light onto Earth, why would a man not be able to have the light reflected onto him? This picture seems like it is not faked.
Another reason people think that the moon landing is faked is because all the pictures from the mission have no stars in them at all. I have trouble understanding this theory at all, because it is hard for me to capture stars with my expensive DSLR camera with little exposure, so I find it hard to believe that they could capture faint stars out in the depths of space from the moon during the lunar daytime.
There were also pictures taken that were supposedly miles apart that have very similar backgrounds. It is claimed that they aren't the same, just similar, but it is uncanny how similar they really are. Theorists claim it is just a backdrop in a studio that they use. Since there is no pollution on the moon, it very well could be that they are miles away and you can still see it just as well.
There are so many more pieces of evidence supporting/debunking this claim like the flag was moving and that you can see stage lights that it would take a lot of typing to get it all in. My personal on this opinion has actually changed. I used to definitely believe that we faked the moon landing because I only ever looked at the theory from one point of view. The research I did for this changed my opinion and now I am leaning more towards we landed on the moon. I encourage you to do your own research for this as well and form your own opinion. I will leave some sources of information down below.
